prairie pics

The new addition, pretty much doubles our living space!

Look at the size of that slug!!! Between those things, and having a new baby to keep me busy this summer, my garden really didn't have a chance.

This nest was made in our "garage". Conrad and I discovered it one day, just eggs. The next day his cousin Jordyn came out to visit and he took her down to show her the eggs. They came racing back to tell us that there was a baby bird. How cool for the kids to witness that?

Also this summer - Norrie's baptism

Norrie was baptized in June. We had hoped to do it in May, but our move back to the prairie had been postponed so we were busy making our transition back to prairie living that month. A bit of a shock after having so much space, and running water, for so many months.

Grandma Mary made the gown for Norrie. Conrad was especially pleased with the "Princess Dress". The necklace is something special I picked up for her - her first jewelry and it's with her birthstone.

Some pictures from the last six months...

Conrad loving his new sister!

One day this spring, I arrived home one very windy afternoon to discover smoke and flames blowing across the prairie. As Conrad will tell you, the first thing I said was "oh S#*T". We may never know what exactly started the grass fire, we suspect it may have been lightning. The next day I got a few pictures. Notice how close it was to our yurt?!? It even wrapped around the structure, within inches.

We also discovered this nest, complete with cooked eggs.

And a little home improvement. Ray and Tim are installing solar panels - we needed a bit more juice for our chest freezer to keep up with all the heat this summer.
