Yep, more good weather

and thank goodness, because we had a lot of work to accomplish. Near the end of the month it had cooled down enough to split wood. Not that it can't be warm when splitting wood, but why get all sweaty when nice cool weather is just around the corner?

Some friends came out for the day (children and dogs too) and we split wood, stacked wood, dug holes in the garden (I forget now what game they were playing) , created pea gravel masterpieces, and visited.

We took a long mid-day break for lunch, Norrie opted to sit with Alexis for the entire meal.

And at the end of the day, here's what we had. Hardly felt like work :)

There was more wood to be split, but the machine had to be returned before closing AND we had big plans in town that evening...(see next post, coming soon)

Another Party on the Prairie (have I mentioned the weather yet?)

The same weekend, on Sunday afternoon, we had my family out for a haywagon and dinner.

to the left: Connor and his Uncle Shawn (my nephew and my brother, respectively)

Norrie with her Papa

Nephew Zachary taking a turn at driving the tractor.

Now Dakota's turn (my neice)

Conrad and Tim :)

Two more kiddos joined us later in the evening. They were having dinner with their other g'ma and g'pa so came out as soon as they could, which was still early enough to get a chance at driving the tractor! (niece Jordyn in picture at right)

After dinner we spread out a picnic blanket inside and pulled out Halloween candy necklaces to string (and eat, but not necessarily in that order for everyone - some necklaces were pretty short!)

not pictured, but in attendance: my sister, nephew Alex, and myself

not in attendance: brother Brian. We did however hear from him during the party. He called and was put on speaker to announce some baby news!!

Party on the Prairie (October pictures)

More incredible weather = parties on the prairie. Also, Tim purchased a new "toy" this year he wanted to use (hay wagon).

We had some friends from church and their little ones come out on a Friday evening. It was quite warm to start (perfect for a cold beer with friends at the end of a long week) but cooled off nicely when the sun went down (perfect for a bowl of chili).

October - more biking

The beautiful autumn weather went on and on this year. These pictures were taken in early October; another Sunday afternoon we spent biking. We visited Root River trail again but did a few things differently.

1. Started earlier in the afternoon.

2. Ate ice cream (we arrived BEFORE they closed this time)

3. finished before dark (no moon lit ride this time)
