Spring/winter/spring

March is the month of transitional weather. Last week Conrad and I ambushed Tim with snowballs AND went mud/puddle splashing in the same hour. This week we put on mittens and boots and went biking.

Here's the "fort" - and his war face.

Then played in the puddles while waiting for daddy to arrive.

When we saw Tim coming over the hill we took our places....

Here's our target

And attack! Tim really was the target, I just happened to be behind/beside him when this one was thrown.

And despite the snow on some sidewalks, Conrad was very excited to get out on his bike yesterday afternoon.

Birthday Blogging - part 3

The party! We waited until Sunday (March 20th) for the party because then we could celebrate the arrival of spring as well :) A full sheet cake, and cupcakes as back up (nothing worse then running out of cake!!) The cupcake with the umbrella was the birthday girl piece.

the birthday outfit. Maybe not classy, but fun. The onsie was borrowed from her friend Olivia (who is 4-5 months older), and the skirt was made by grandma. The white satiny material used for the skirt is from the same fabric that mom made my wedding dress with.

Norrie napped in the truck right up until party time, when Tim brought her in. She had just a few minutes to wake up before we kicked off the party with the birthday song. I wasn't sure if she would smile or cry (nearly 80 people singing Happy Birthday could be a little intimidating for a one year old!) She didn't seem sure at first how to react either, but then put on a great smile and a little laughter.

Here's your cake....

Yummy!

Conrad loves Quarry Hill, loves his sister, and LOVES parties. He had a great day too.

Birthday Blogging - part 2

On Wednesday last week, the kids and I celebrated the great weather and Norrie's new status as a one year old. We started with a lazy morning at home, complete with pancakes in our pj's (and a candle in Norrie's pancake stack, per CW request). Then we packed up and went to visit this Monkey Junction I've heard so much about. It was as nice (and clean) as we had heard. And the free coffee was pretty decent tasting. Both kids had a good time - Conrad's favorite item was the "roller coaster" scooter thing, Norrie's favorite seemed to be climbing up stairs and going down the slide. Repeat. repeat. repeat :)

When Monkey Junction closed down at 1pm, we moved outside and had a picnic.

Next on our agenda was "naps". I put Norrie in my carrier and Conrad in a stroller. Norrie fell asleep promptly but Conrad preferred to jump out of the stroller every 5-10 minutes to run or explore. I didn't discourage him, burning off energy is just as important as sleep at his age!
After our walk, Norrie was dropped off to visit a good friend while I took Conrad to the planetarium for a short cardboard rocket ship ride through the galaxy. (it was awesome!)

And last stop for the day was meeting daddy at Chipotle. Norrie does quite well with her two little teeth!
