We just returned from a week in the Bighorn Mountains, Wyoming. It was a great trip; good hiking, well behaved baby (even during long days of traveling!), no car trouble. We pulled in to the Prairie late last night and slept great (ahhh, a real bed!). Woke up this morning to rain and knew we were in for an adventure. For those of you that haven't been to the prairie yet, we have over 1/2 mile to travel before getting on a "real" road. When it rains, our "driveway" gets a bit slick. Sure enough, our van was stuck. We were stranded. Tim is a pretty persistent person (read: stubborn, DUTCH!) so he wouldn't give up right away. We attempted pulling it with a tractor. We tried tire chains. We finally called for help and then hiked out to be picked up by my sister.
Once in town, Tim ate breakfast and warmed up before heading back out there. In someways, it wouldn't be a big deal. We could just wait out the rain and in a few days it will dry out and life will be back to normal. However, it's just not that simple this time. Tim bought and fixed up a second van last summer with the intention of selling it. The good news is we have a buyer (and already put a down payment on a yurt with the money - more about that later). The bad news, the buyer drove from Michigan this weekend to pick up that van. Drove from Michigan, sold his truck, and is waiting for this van to drive home.
In other news, Tim and I ordered a yurt to live in. www.pacificyurts.com - check it out :)
I have lots of pictures from our trip to Wyoming. Hopefully will get those posted this week sometime.
