July Adventures - Madeline Island

During the hottest, hottest days of the summer I was fortunate to have a trip already planned to northern Wisconsin. The kids and I traveled with another mom and her two kids. We stayed at their farm the night before leaving so we could get an early start and have our breakfast in Duluth. At 8am, the temp in Duluth was already warm enough to play in the water.

A friend of mine that lives in Duluth was able to meet us in Canal park for a short visit. I was quite excited to see her and her baby bump. :)

From Duluth it was another couple hours of driving. The last 30 minutes or so the crew in back finally closed their eyes. They had been awake since the wee hours of the morning! They all woke up in Bayfield when we drove onto the ferry.

The next three days were spent on the beach.

Boating.

Building.

"swimming" (yes! swimming in Lake Superior never felt so perfectly refreshing...it was that hot up there)

Exploring.

We did get driven inside one afternoon due to rain. We sat in the tent, had snacks, read stories and waited for the skies to clear so we could get just a bit more beach time that evening.

Conrad is posing with Andrea.

We didn't get any closer to the sea caves than this. We tried a little hiking, but the sand flies were terrible. Imagine a bee swarm, but flies instead. It was disgusting. And painful.

crazy kids. gotta love personality.

And the last day, riding the ferry back to mainland.
