driveway adventures

When there is snow in the forecast we never know what to expect on our driveway in the morning. We wake through the night, listening for wind. If it is windy, Tim knows he'll be getting up about 4:30am to get the tractor warmed up for plowing. It's amazing how just 1-3 inches for the rest of you may mean 6, 8, even 10inches on our driveway when the wind blows. Some day we'll get that driveway elevated and then the wind will be our friend.

This morning there had been no wind. Tim even poked his head out early while he was up stoking the fire. Looked and sounded good. Back to bed. Up at our normal time and normal routine. Until we went outside. It was unbelievably icy under all the snow! Tim tried moving the car and it went the wrong direction. (downhill is never good) On go the tire chains, such amazing things. Of course at the end of the driveway they need to come off. And then the first few roads weren't plowed. In the end I'm only 1/2 hour late to work though - not bad.
