Fall Festival
A friend in the Byron area hosted a fall festival complete with chili, hot drinks, bonfire, crafts for the kids, and a pumpkin hunt. The pumpkin hunt is like an Easter egg hunt, except the candy is in little plastic pumpkins instead of inside plastic eggs. Cool idea and a big hit. When it was time to hide the pumpkins, some parents herded the kids to the front yard and kept them up there while the rest of us emptied big storage totes filled with pumpkins (we're talking hundreds of pumpkins) and hid them across the lot. When it was time for the hunt to begin it was a fun sight to see dozens of children streaming around the corner of the house with such enthusiasm.
Besides just being a really fun afternoon, Tim and I enjoyed meeting lots of other families in the Byron area. With Conrad not in the public school system we really only meet people through church, soccer, or parties like this.
